Science Lates: Christmas Cracker
Science Lates: Christmas Cracker
Looking for a work Christmas party idea? A unique festive date night? Or just something different to do with friends over the holiday period? The adults only Science Lates: Christmas Cracker is just for you! Join us, and join in, this festive season as we delve into the science behind one of our most-loved family holidays.
What does Santa see, hear and do on his journey from East to West on Christmas Eve? Let's find out with our fun and interactive mini-talks and demos. Watch as science brings to life the Christmas traditions of the east, from the combustive elements needed for an Australian BBQ to the convection levitation of Chinese lanterns. Then be wowed by the science behind the pickles, turkeys and flying witches of the west!
Can you use science to solve Santa's dilemmas in the Lates Challenge? How can Santa fit down a chimney? And how many mince pies can one person actually eat? Are you up for the challenge? Plus design your own bauble planet to take home and put on the tree, join the silent disco, play some classic Christams games and fly around the solar system in a brand new Planetarium space adventure.
Located just a short 10-minute bus ride from the centre of Winchester, Science Lates: Christmas Cracker is the perfect festive event with friends, co-workers or family.

Accessibility information for Science Lates
The Planetarium is accessible so everyone can have a special experience here. It's not super dark and you can move around, go out and come back in if you like. If you have a wheelchair, we have spaces for you to sit with seats for your family and friends. The stairs have lights to make them easy to see.
The Science Centre is completely open plan. There are doors inside the public areas to access the toilets, the Planetarium, classrooms and Science Theatre. Every floor has a level surface and all the exhibits have lots of space for wheelchairs. There are seats everywhere and a roll-on-roll-off lift that's big enough for a wheelchair and carer/personal assistant.
